If you looking for your first REAL car, find a 87 to 89 Dodge Conquest TSI turbo. You can get them around 4 grand now and they do 155 out of the box. They have the handling of with little money spent can rival a Z-TT. These cars are cheap and fast and look alot like a 944 but nicer in my opion. I had one for 3 years and loved it until a guy came by and paid me more than I could say no too. I have a CRX SI and a 300 TT now but I still drool when I see and here a TSI. Remeber <1st> your first real car needs to be cheap so that if you crash it, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to fix. <2nd> take a racing class like Skip Barbor at Road A. I have been there twice, way back in 88 or 89 with the CRX and 92 with the Z-NA's. This will do more for your driving skills than anything else. I was once told a wise tale, and I still pass this on to others coming into the I want a fast car world.
